costume design
During my senior year, I delved headfirst into costume design, dedicating a significant amount of time to visually narrating stories through attire. One of my most rewarding experiences was collaborating with a seasoned costume department to bring Carole King's story to life. This journey commenced in the fall with only a script, no cast, and a room full of costume designers. Together, we meticulously researched to accurately depict the era, focusing on every detail from accessories to street fashion subcultures of the time. As a lead stylist, my role was pivotal in curating ensembles that seamlessly integrated into the narrative. This involved selecting colors and sourcing garments to enhance the storytelling. Additionally, I took on the challenge of constructing a dress based on the design package, adding a personal touch to the production. Overall, it was a transformative experience where I not only contributed to the visual storytelling but also honed my skills as a costume designer.
